Sustainability
Have you ever sat in a lineup full of rubbish? Or witnessed the ocean turning brown after heavy rains? I have, and I think that businesses have a responsibility to follow sustainable practices and show an example. Even the small businesses.
Slow fashion
Each item in the shop is handmade in Finland by Muru's founder and designer, Outi. There is only a handful of each product in stock, which leads to less materials being used and fewer bikinis sitting in storage waiting to be purchased. Slow fashion is the vibe.
Materials
Muru is focused on using sustainable materials. All Muru surf wear is made from ECONYL® regenerated nylon or polyester-based fabrics. You might have heard of fabrics made with ECONYL® yarn, a 100% regenerated nylon fiber made from pre and post-consumer waste that would otherwise pollute the Earth. This fabric looks and performs exactly like fossil-based nylon and has the potential to be recycled infinitely, without ever losing its quality. All Muru items are made from these recycled fabrics. Head to the product pages to see further information on the materials used in each piece.
Packaging
Don't be surprised if you receive your surfwear in a slightly battered package. Some orders will be packed with pre-loved materials, to reduce the amount of packaging waste. There is no single-use plastic. Furthermore, you will not find any unnecessary branding or promotional materials and the tags that contain the product information are printed on FSC-certified paper.
