Sustainability

Ever sat in a lineup full of rubbish? Or seen the ocean water turn brown during heavy rains? I have, and I think that businesses have a responsibility to follow sustainable practises and show an example. Even the small businesses.

Slow fashion

Each item in the shop is handmade in Finland by yours truly, from patterns to the finished products. There are only a handful of each product in stock, which leads to less materials being used and less bikinis sitting in storage waiting to be purchased. Slow fashion is the vibe. If your size is unavailable, please let me know at info@murubikini.com.

Materials

Muru is heavily focused on sustainable materials. All Muru surf wear is made from recycled nylon or polyester based fabrics. You might have heard of ECONYL® fabrics. It's nylon waste from landfills and oceans around the world that is transformed into regenerated nylon, a 'new' material. It looks and performs exactly like brand new nylon and can be recycled, recreated and remoulded again and again. All Muru items are made from these recycled fabrics. Each product page contains information of the materials used.

Packaging

Don't be surprised if you receive your surfwear in a bit battered package. Some orders will be packed with pre-loved materials, to reduce the amount of packaging waste. There is no single-use plastic. Furthermore, you will not find any unnecessary branding or promotion materials and the tags that contain the product information are printed on FSC-certified paper.
